Range/oven troubleshooting guides
Range and oven guides start from the symptom: the cooktop works but the oven stays cold. The guide covers gas and electric ranges together and marks at each step which type it applies to. Causes are ranked from settings and modes that cost nothing to check through to components that need a part or a technician.
Gas ranges get special treatment. Any path that reaches the gas supply, the igniter, or the safety valve ends in a stop instruction with the reason, and a smell of gas or any sign of carbon monoxide is a stop before anything else.
Range/oven problems without a code
- Range/oven not heating On a gas range there is a second gas shut-off most owners have never seen: a small valve on the pressure regulator, separate from the main supply valve.
Like every guide on the site, the range and oven pages list their sources with retrieval dates, open an interactive diagnosis, and link to the related guides. More symptoms and brand codes are added as their sources are verified.
The guide is arranged so that the electric-range and gas-range paths can be told apart: each cause says which type it applies to where the manufacturers' instructions differ, and the professional-only section lists the repairs the manufacturers reserve for a technician. Manufacturer-specific behaviour is quoted rather than generalised.
